Mildred E Clausen

Mildred Emma Minnie Clausen was born on December 28, 1916, the daughter of Herman and Sophie Gierstorf Miller. She passed away Friday, April 4, 2014, at the Denison Care Center in Denison, Iowa, at the age of ninety-seven.
Mildred was born in Morgan Township, Schleswig, Iowa. She was baptized January 21, 1917, and later confirmed on March 29, 1931, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hanover Township by Rev. Runge. She grew up on a farm and received her formal education at Morgan country school #8 and at St. Paul’s Lutheran School. On December 11, 1938, Mildred was united in marriage to Leonard Clausen. The couple settled on a farm in Morgan Township and were blessed with the birth of a daughter, Jolene. In 1977, the couple retired from farming and moved to Schleswig in 1986. Mildred spent the last ten years at the Denison Care Center where she received excellent care and enjoyed all the activities offered.
Mildred was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig. She was a very loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family and was always willing to give a helping hand. She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, canning and baking. She was a very hard worker. In her leisure time she enjoyed quilting and fancy work. She was an excellent housekeeper who kept her kitchen very neat and orderly.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter and son-in-law, Jolene and Larry; three brothers, John, Carl and Herman; and two sisters, Eleanora and Irene . Survivors include: five grandchildren: Tami and her husband, Drew; Todd and his wife, Connie; Tina and her husband, Greg; Michael and his wife, Tracy; Mark and his wife, Theresa; thirteen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Anna, many other relatives and friends.
