Murlyn Junior Aronson was born July 30, 1924, the son of Fred and Carolina Bockelmann Aronson. He died on Sunday, September 5, 2010 at the Denison Care Center in Denison, Iowa at the age of eighty-six.
Murlyn was born on a farm in Willow Township near Charter Oak, Iowa. He was baptized in Christ on August 24, 1924 and confirmed on April 10, 1938 at St. John Lutheran Church in Charter Oak. He began his education in a rural school near his home and went on to attend St. Johns Lutheran School and Charter Oak Community High School where he graduated in 1942. After graduation, he worked on his family farm and began his life-long career in farming. The couple settled on the family farm near Charter Oak and was blessed with the birth of three daughters.
Murlyn and LaMae were devoted farmers. Even after they moved into Charter Oak, Murlyn and LaMae would be seen working on their farm almost every day. In 2001, he was presented with an Iowa Century Farm Award. Murlyn had also served as Charter Oak Township Trustee. During his leisure time, Murlyn enjoyed being with his family and for many years valued spending time with friends at a weekly breakfast date.
Murlyn attended St. John Lutheran Church his entire life. As an active member he served in various positions including Vice President, Treasurer, Elder, Usher and on the Board of Education.
