Nancy Joan Brown

November 13, 1942 — November 18, 2021

Nancy Joan Brown, was born November 13, 1942 to Al and Katherine "Sunny" Beck in Los Angeles, California. She was baptized in the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church and attended Lutheran High School in Los Angeles. She remained a woman of faith throughout her life, participating and serving in many Women's Bible Study groups over the years.

Nancy had one daughter, Corinne, with her first husband, then married Bob Brown in 1971. They moved to Crestline, California where Nancy spent her time making a home and leading a Camp Fire Girls group. Nancy also loved music, and spent several years singing with a local Sweet Adeline's group there.

Nancy and Bob began cooking for camps in the Crestline area after Bob's retirement, and Nancy continued that at Arrowhead Lutheran Camp in Lake Arrowhead, California. In 2004, Nancy and Bob moved back to Crawford County, Iowa where Nancy had cousins on her father's side, living first in Kiron and then Schleswig until Bob's passing in 2016. For the past 4 years Nancy lived in Denison, especially enjoying her time at Reed Place where her favorite pastimes were the group games and hymn singing.

Nancy passed through to her eternal life on November 18, 2021 at Eventide Lutheran Home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Al & Sunny Beck, and her husband, Robert "Bob" Brown. She is survived by her daughter, Corinne Lawrence of Ogdensburg, New York; two granddaughters: Allison Lawrence of Ann Arbor, Michigan and Elise Lawrence (Cesar Cañon) of Oslo, Norway; as well as two cousins: Lois (Klink) Greder and Karen Klink of Denison, Iowa.
