Norene M. Didier

October 15, 1944 — February 7, 2017

Norene Marie (Duncan) Didier joined her Savior and Lord on Tuesday, February 7, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bernard and Mary Duncan Scholarship Fund at St Rosa of Lima Catholic School in Denison.
Norene was born on October 15, 1944, in Denison, the sixth child of James Bernard Duncan and Mary Elizabeth (Baumann) Duncan. Norene attended St. Rose of Lima elementary school before graduating from Denison Community High School in 1962. She went on to attend the Iowa Beauty School in Des Moines.
On July 5, 1965, Norene and Philip L. Didier were united in marriage at St. Rose of Lima Church in Denison. Norene and Phil were blessed with three children, Kim (John Lee), Kyle (Denise), and Keary (Amy) who provided her with eight grandchildren: Duncan, Carter, and Mason Lee of Newton, Iowa; Tyler and Megan Didier of Plymouth, Minnesota; and Riley, Regan, and Caden Didier of Lewisville, North Carolina.
Norene worked for the Denison Municipal Utilities for more than 25 years and retired in 2012.
Norene was a physically active person throughout her life and spent a great deal of her time with her cherished friends, walking and golfing. In 2007, she completed the entire week of RAGBRAI with her daughter Kim and daughter-in-law Denise. Norene was also an accomplished seamstress and a passionate quilter making several annual trips to the AQS QuiltWeek and Show with friends and fellow quilters.
Norene treasured her time traveling to watch her grandchildren in plays, dance recitals, soccer, football, softball, baseball, and volleyball games, wrestling, track, and swim meets as well as attending many of their other school and church events. She usually didn’t leave one of their events without slipping them some cash without their parents’ knowledge.
Norene was a life-long member of St. Rose of Lima where she served on the Ladies Guild, as an Extraordinary Minister, and multiple other roles in service to the church and her Lord.
In addition to her immediate family, Norene is survived by her sisters Delphine Demers of Storm Lake, Iowa; Katherine Ericson of Carroll, Iowa; and Bernadine (Don) Tegels of Fonda, Iowa; her brother Louis (Evelyn) Duncan of Denison, Iowa; her sister-in-law Linda Duncan of Manilla, Iowa, and numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. Norene was preceded in death by her parents; brother James; brother-in laws Louis Demers and Curtis Ericson, nephew Robert Ericson, and niece Barbara Duncan.
