Norman Arthur Kiepe

November 21, 1927 — August 1, 2022

Norman Arthur Kiepe was born November 21, 1927, in rural Willow Township, Crawford County, Iowa, the son of Charles "Carl" Fredrick and Louise Anna Kiepe. He passed away Monday, August 1, 2022, at his Charter Oak, Iowa, home at the age of ninety-four.

Norman grew up on the family farm, and was baptized at St. John Lutheran Church. He later moved to town at 224 Birch Street, where he spent the rest of his life. After graduating from Charter Oak High School, he served time in the military as an Army supply sergeant including a tour of duty in Korea from 1952-1954. After returning home from service, he built custom homes on the ridge above what is now The Boulders Country Club, and also adjacent to the Crawford Heights Cemetery in Denison. He enjoyed stock market trading, studies, and an occasional visit to the local casinos.

Norman was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Margaret Henriette Bestmann. He is survived by his brother, Charles Henry Kiepe and his wife Mary of Louisville, Colorado; his nephews and nieces: Steven Kiepe and his wife Kathy of Berthoud, Colorado, Lynn Shook and her husband Barry, Robert Kiepe and his wife Denise, each of Louisville, Colorado, Alison Miller of Los Angeles, California, David Kiepe of Phoenix, Arizona, Allen Bestmann and his wife Patty of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Carolyn Bestmann of Papillion, Nebraska; as well as other relatives, members of the community and friends.

A memorial service will be planned later this year to celebrate his life.
