Norman L. Krueger

September 6, 1939 — November 4, 2016

Norman Lowell Krueger was born in Omaha, Nebraska, on September 6, 1939. His mother, Lorraine Stone died in 1940 and Norman was adopted by his great-aunt, Alma Krueger when he was 2 years old. He grew up in Deloit, Iowa and received his education in the Denison Community Schools. He graduated from high school with the class of 1958.
After completing his education, he worked in construction for awhile and packing plants in Denison. In 1962, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, and after receiving his honorable discharge, he returned to Deloit. Norman was united in marriage to Jean Reeser in 1966. The couple made their home in Deloit and was blessed with the birth one daughter. He was employed at B & M Motors, Chain O Egg Plant for a few months before taking a job with the Denison Municipal Utilities where he was employed as a switchboard operator, a career lasting 20 and years. In 1986, his job was phased out and replaced by automation. In 1987, he was employed by the Crawford County Memorial Hospital where he worked for a few years before taking a position at C.B. Electronics and Schleswig Meats for 3 years. In 1996, he took a position at Custom Ribs Packing Co. in Denison where he worked for 3 years, then Purity Farms until Con Agra took over the bacon plant where he continued working until they closed the plant. In 2001, he retired and enjoyed his leisure time with vacations in Nashville, and going to Chicago to see the Cubs play. Other leisure time activities included watching sporting events on TV, Court TV, his cats, bicycle riding, karaoke, and seeing his daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed socializing with his friends and was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church.
Norman is preceded in death by his mother, Lorraine, his adoptive mother, Alma; aunt, Lola; and his son-in-law, Randy “Whitey”. Survivors include his daughter, Janet and her fiancee Tracy; three grandchildren, Julie and her husband, James; Ryan and his wife, Gretchen; Roger; and three great-grandchildren, Blake, Bradly and Bentley, other relatives and many friends.
