Pat Clark

Patsy "Pat" Ruth Buff Clark was born July 8, 1930, the daughter of A. Ernest and Genevieve Birkhofer Buff. She passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, Iowa, at the age of eighty-one.
Pat was born in Roxanna, Oklahoma, and moved with her parents and older sister Thelma, to Dow City, Iowa, in 1935. She received her education in the Dow City Community Schools, graduating with the class of 1948. She was employed at Bremsers Grocery Store in Dow City and was also a Nurses Aide at St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. Pat was united in marriage to Richard Clark on January 21, 1951, at the United Methodist Church in Dow City. The couple lived on the Clark family farm near Dow City for 40 years. They were blessed with four daughters. In 1990, the couple retired to Denison.
Pat was a kind and caring person, deriving great joy in being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She was an avid and accomplished seamstress and quilter. Pat loved to knit, crochet, cook, bake, decorate cakes, and try new recipes. Birthdays at the Clark house were very special celebrations for the family and Pats meals and lunches were deliciously prepared and immensely enjoyed by the men that helped out on the farm. Pat was a member of "Busy Neighbors" neighborhood club, served on various committees for the Crawford County Extension Council, served as room mother for her daughters classes, and was always willing to help out with various school and community-related projects, activities, and committees. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Dow City. In September 2009, Pat moved to Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, June Arlene in infancy, and Thelma; one brother, Perry; and one son-in-law, Richard. Survivors include her husband, Richard; four daughters, Diane; Mary and her husband, Thomas; Carol and her husband, Edward; Peggy and her husband, Gary; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Karen and her husband, Jerry; Bonnie and her husband, Bill; four brothers: Charles and his wife, Leslie; Nick and his wife, Kate; Chris, and Ransom "Butch"; one brother-in-law, James; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
