Paulette Marie Mechura, a long time resident of Arlington, Texas, passed away Thursday, August 23, 2018 at the age of 76. Paulette was born in Ida Grove, Iowa on March 29, 1942, and was the loving daughter of Helen Louise Hansen and Arthur Henry Hansen.
Paulette received her education in Ida Grove, Iowa and was united in marriage, at the Catholic Church, to John Peter (Jack) Keating on August 29, 1959, in Ida Grove. They were blessed with three children, Shelley, Keith and Kevin. Paulette cherished her time with family and friends and also enjoyed racing competitively in the local stock car powder-puff races. During these years, she worked hard with Jack at their gas station and helped with the farming. Until his life was cut short in 1968.
In the next chapter of her life, Paulette would reconnect with Anthony (Tony) Mechura, her high school sweetheart - who had two children, Kevin and Kelley. Paulette and Tony married on April 8, 1969 in Beaumont, Texas. From this union they were now blessed with five (5) children. Paulette and Tony would go on to build a wonderful life together for their family. Paulette was a devoted wife and helped Tony sell motorhomes, all while raising their five children. She would successfully manage to raise those five (5) children into teenagers and survive the experience.
She really enjoyed being a mother and loved spending time in the outdoors and camping with the family, from tent trailers to motorhomes. Boating and water skiing were some of her favorite things that she enjoyed doing with the five kids. (Plus extra friends sometimes). As the children grew, so did the adventures. She got to travel all across the United States and have many wonderful vacations and experiences with the family. Paulette never took time for granted, she always let her children know how much she loved them and spent one-on-one time with each one of them.
Paulette cherished being a grandparent and was honored to be called “grandma” or “mawmaw”. A smile the size of Texas would appear on her face while in attendance of her grandchildren’s functions, whether it be sporting events, talent shows, graduations or weddings. She was so proud of each and every one of her grandchildren. She would always take time to tell each of her grandchildren how much they meant to her and devoted quality time to each one of them.
Paulette will be missed by all those that love her so dearly. Paulette and Tony spent 49 wonderful years together, and they recently renewed their wedding vows surrounded by their loving family aboard a cruise in Alaska. She was a true example of a loving person who gave of herself to all that knew her. She lived her entire life with strength and vigor and her large loving family will cherish her always.
