Philip LeRoy Didier, Jr.

December 3, 1942 — April 23, 2025

Denison

Philip LeRoy Didier, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on April 23, 2025. Born on December 3, 1942, to Philip Rudolph Didier and Minnie (Hast) Didier, Phil grew up on the family farm in Buck Grove, Iowa. He cherished his childhood, riding one of his two horses to country school.

Phil attended Denison High School, where he participated in football and track as well as the Future Farmers of America (FFA) and served as its President. He graduated in 1961 and went on to earn an Associates Degree in Business from AIB in Des Moines.

In 1965, Phil returned to Denison to marry his high school sweetheart, Norene (Duncan) Didier. Together, they welcomed three children: Kim (John Lee), Kyle (Denise), and Keary (Amy). Phil was dedicated to his family and friends, advocating for Kim to be the first girl to play pee wee baseball, coaching Kyle and Keary in Little League and Senior League baseball, flag football, and never missing one of his children's numerous High School sports events.

Phil was a long-time member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, where he served as an elder for many years, demonstrating his commitment to his faith and community. Phil also served his country as an active member of the Iowa National Guard.

Phil spent most of his career at Johnson Motors Dealership in Denison, starting as an accountant, then becoming a car salesman, and finally buying the business in 1994. He retired in 2019, which allowed him more time to play golf—a sport he had a love/hate relationship with as well as work on his yard. What he enjoyed without fail was his time and friendship with his coffee buddies, who met every Wednesday to solve the world’s problems.

Phil and Norene continued their generosity of time and love with their 8 grandchildren: Tyler (Amelia) Didier, Duncan (Alyssa) Lee, Riley Didier, Megan Didier, Carter Lee, Regan Didier, Mason Lee, and Caden Didier, attending as many school and sports events as possible, often traveling long distances to support them.

Phil's legacy of generosity, love, and service will be remembered by all who knew him. He has now joined his loving wife of 51 years in the joys of heaven.

Phil’s visitation with Family Greeting Friends will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., with the Funeral Service to begin at 11:00 a.m., all at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Denison. Burial will be in the St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Denison. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Rose of Lima Catholic School.
