Ralph Edward Giesman was born on January 29, 1941, the son of Henry and Elizabeth Jane (Werst) Giesman in Lawrence, Kansas. He received his High School education from Pleasantville, Iowa. He attended technical school for two-way radios in Des Moines. Ralph served in the Iowa Army National Guard for 22 years.
Ralph married Roseanne Clare on October 29, 1966, in Knoxville, Iowa, and the couple was blessed with two daughters, Alesia Mae and Dawn Eloise. They made their home in Burlington, Iowa and later moved to Denison, Iowa. Ralph worked for the State of Iowa from 1974 to 2004. Ralph enjoyed amateur (HAM) radio, listening to Big Band music, especially Lawrence Welk, and going for walks.
Ralph passed away on March 10, 2024, at Accura HealthCare of Carroll in Carroll, Iowa, at the age of 83 years, one month and 10 days.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Viola Kathline; sister, Rosalie Nielsen; and brother, Harold Giesman. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Roseanne (Clare) Giesman of Denison; two daughters: Alesia (Mark) Jepsen of Combs, Arkansas and Dawn Giesman of Denison; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers: John (Sharon) Giesman of Buffalo Center and Fred (Diane) Giesman of Kellogg; sister, Virginia (Ed) Oxenreider of Chariton; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 15, 2024, at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison. Memorials may be directed to the family.
