Ramona Jean Bauer was born November 28, 1931, the daughter of Claude and Mary Blackman. She died Monday, November 16, 2015, at Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison at the age of eighty-three.
Jean was baptized into the Christian faith during her childhood and was a life long member of the Assemblies of God Church. Jean officiated as a pastor for the Assemblies of God Church in Carroll, Iowa for one year. On May 8, 1960, she was united in marriage to Robert Bauer. The couple was blessed with the birth of four children.
Jean was born and raised in Denison, Iowa, and received her education in the Denison Community High School. While still in school, she began working for the Crawford County REC and continued her education through the Diversified Education program that prepared her for positions in business. After graduating from high school with the class of 1950, she became a full time employee of the REC. In 1953, she continued her education at the North Central Bible College in Minneapolis, Minnesota. For summer breaks, she continued working at the REC. After completing her education in Minneapolis, she cared for an ill sister in Texas, returning to Denison in 1959 to work for the South Crawford REC. For a short time, she was employed at Harrison County REC and returned to South Crawford REC for the remainder of her career, that lasted 38 years. In her career, she occupied many positions beginning with billing clerk and retiring in March of 1995 as office manager. In her career, she saw the office changes that began with stencils and advanced to calculators, bookkeeping machines and computers.
She enjoyed music, playing the piano and accordion for church services and also in her leisure time. She enjoyed socializing with family and friends and especially enjoyed her children and grandchildren. She kept informed of events by eating out and visiting with family and friends, especially Maxine and Dorothy.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; Claude and Mary; twin granddaughters; Bobbi Joe and Beverly Nicole; sisters; Trenna, Margaret, Irene, Claudia and Marianne; brothers: Claude, Edward, Myron, Clarence, Russell and Robert. She is survived by one son, Gary and his special friend, Suzi; three daughters: Connie and her husband, Stephan; Mary and friend, Rick; Jeanne and her husband, Russ; eleven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
