Raymond Bramley

August 22, 1932 — April 6, 2012

Raymond Lowell Bramley was born August 22, 1932, the son of Thomas and Lola Argotsinger Bramley. He passed away at his home in rural Soldier, Iowa, on April 6, 2012, at the age of seventy-nine.
Raymond was born in Dow City, Iowa. He received his elementary education at Rural Paradise School and his high school education in the Denison Community Schools and the Dow City Community Schools. Raymond entered the U.S. Army in January of 1953 and served his country in the food service division. He was honorably discharged from the service in January of 1955. On June 14, 1953, Raymond was united in marriage to Opal Malone at her parents home in Dow City. The couple was blessed with the birth of five children.
Raymond was a hard working man who always kept himself busy. He worked at the Denison Hyde plant, B&G implement, at IBP as a maintenance man, worked at Langenfeld Repair in Ute, and he also farmed. Although his work kept him busy he always found time for his family. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who cared for his family with diligence as he devoted his life to them. He adored his grandchildren, taking them for rides on the golf cart, going to their high school sporting events, spending time with them, and making each of his granddaughters a Hope Chest. An avid story teller, Raymond, loved to reminisce about the old times and how things have changed. He also liked to read good stories, his favorite being westerns written by Louis LAmour. Raymond enjoyed watching sports, football being his favorite; gardening, especially tomatoes; and was a very competitive card player, especially euchre. Raymond was also a Deacon of the First Christian Church in Ute.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Blinda; five brothers: Lloyd, Wayne, Dwight, Leland, and Robert; and one son-in-law, Jerry Kohnekamp. He is survived by his wife, Opal; three daughters, Sandy and her husband, Dean; Julie and her husband, Brian; and Choya and her husband, Steve; one son, Lyle and his wife, Tammy; thirty grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren; one sister, Clara Mae and her husband, Max; one brother, Donald and his wife, Ceil; three sisters-in-law: Donna; Sandra; Irma; other relatives and friends.
