Reva Romayne Krueger Riessen was born April 16, 1929 in Deloit, Iowa to William and Sarah Shreffler Krueger. She died January 10, 2014 at the Windmill Manor in Corralville, Iowa at the age of eighty-four.
She received her education in Crawford County rural schools and graduated from Denison High School in 1946. Reva attended Fort Dodge Beauty Academy receiving her cosmetology license in 1948 and worked at Mildred’s Beauty Shop in Battle Creek, Iowa.
Reva was united in marriage to Herbert Riessen at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Schleswig, Iowa on January 16, 1949 and were blessed with five children. They farmed north of Schleswig until 1983 and in 1996 moved to Ida Grove. It was in Ida Grove that she owned and operated Reva’s Hair Lines serving the community there for 13 years.
She was a strong woman of faith and dedicated her life to serving her Lord, her family, church and friends. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and passionate about her country and honoring those who serve it. Her hobbies included sewing, crafts, gardening, bird watching, painting and stained glass work. She was an avid Denver Broncos and Iowa Hawkeyes fan.
Reva was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig until moving to Storm Lake in 2008 transferring membership to Grace Lutheran there. She later joined Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Iowa City in 2010 when she moved across the state to be closer to son Kirk.
Preceding her in death were her husband Herbie, her parents, brother Duane Krueger, sisters Wilma Reimer, Nola Foster and Elta Lutz. Those left to honor her memory are her children, Peggy Gallagher and husband Jack of Slatington, Pennsylvania, Ronda Chapman and husband Les of Grand Haven, Michigan, Bradley Riessen and wife Diane of Ricketts, Iowa, Laurel Kaiser and husband Kenny of Cheyenne, Wyoming and Kirk Riessen of Riverside, Iowa; 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Elfie Riessen and Dorothy Riessen both of Schleswig; Marian Riessen of Harlan and Helen Krueger of Denison; brother-in-law, Al Lutz of Omaha; and many other family members and friends.
