Richard Kenneth Hull, 74, of Denison, Iowa passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at his home in Denison. Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather has gone to be with the Lord.
Richard was born November 8, 1947 in Fairmont, Minnesota to the late Kenneth and Gertrude (Martin) Hull. On February 20, 1968, Richard was inducted in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged from Fort Lewis on September 24, 1969.
On June 26, 1971, Richard was united in marriage to Cheryl Whiting in Blue Earth, Minnesota. To this union, they were blessed with two sons and one daughter.
Richard was a very proud patriotic Vietnam Veteran. He was a dedicated 30-year member of the Minnesota State Patrol. He was active in the VFW, American Legion, Kiwanis and Elk's Lodge everywhere he lived.
He had a great devotion to his family, his church and his community was projected through his involvement in a multitude of ways. He volunteered his skills at church and doing taxes for many. He assures a lot of people were safer by teaching gun safety, bike safety and defensive training.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Gertrude Hull. Left to cherish his memories is his wife, Cheryl Hull of Denison; two sons: Michael Hull and his wife, Kathryn of Vail and Brian Hull and his wife, Shyrl of Chehalis, Washington; daughter, Kim Hull of Denison; eight grandchildren: Tony, Christopher, Madison, Andrew, Tim, Victoria, Shianne and Billy; three great-grandchildren: Wesson, Kahrter, and Barrett; and many other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at the First United Methodist Church in Denison. Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Minnesota Veterans Cemetery near Camp Ripley, Minnesota. Memorials may be directed to the family.
