Richard Steven Anderson was born October 26, 1946, in Slayton, Minnesota, the son of Fred and Grace Lucht and later adopted by Myron and Virginia Anderson. He passed away Friday, August 4, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa, at the age of seventy.
Richard graduated from Schleswig High School with the Class of 1965 and continued his education at Midwestern College in Denison and subsequently received an associate degree from a business college in Sioux City, Iowa. Richard was united in marriage to Catherine Campbell August 14, 1976, in Denison, Iowa. They made their home in Denison where Richard was employed at Iowa Beef Processors for one year, at Farm Service Coop for twenty-five years and lastly at Eventide Lutheran Home for thirteen years.
The New York Yankees and Iowa Hawkeyes were his favorite sports teams. He collected anything with the Coke label on it, enjoyed going to the casino and this last year went camping in Minnesota. He enjoyed watching Westerns, especially the Rifleman, and listening to Hank Williams and other country musicians, as well as the Beatles and Johnny Crawford.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, David. Survivors include: his wife, Catherine; three sons, Travis and his wife, Jennifer, Russel and his wife, Jennifer, and Ronald; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Roger and his wife, Martha, and Doug, two sisters, Cindy and her husband, Tom and Beverly and her husband, Don; three sisters-in-law, YuSook; Viola and Lois; one brother-in-law, Les and his wife, Deanna; his dog, Zoey; other relatives and friends.
