Rita Genevieve Huebner was born October 3, 1926, at Denison, Iowa, the daughter of James and Nora Keating. She passed away Thursday, June 29, 2017, at her home in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of ninety.
Rita received her education in the schools near her home including one year in Carroll and continuing her education at the Denison Community High School graduating with the Class of 1944. She was united in marriage to Mark Huebner June 6, 1949, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison and the couple was blessed with the birth of three children, Mary Jo, Jeff and Julie. They settled in Denison where Mark worked with his brother, Walter Huebner in the funeral home. In 1955, the family moved to Manilla where Mark owned and operated the Huebner Funeral Home in Manilla. They then moved to Texas before returning to the Midwest and settling in Omaha, Nebraska. Rita was a homemaker as well as doing some clerical work.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Rita was a strong Christian woman, raising her family with strong Christian values. She loved the Lord with all her heart, spending hours reading the Bible, as well as attending church and prayer services. Rita was always reserved, polite to everyone, kind and considerate and a dignified mother to the end.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Mark in 1999; one brother, James; and five sisters, Marie, Irene, Lucille, Margarite, and Kay. Survivors include: her children, Mary Jo and her husband, John; Jeffery and his fianc, Kelli; and Julie and her husband, Charles; six grandchildren: Mark, Esai and Jon Carlos, Joy, Jody and Josh, and his wife, Ruth; and two great-grandchildren; Noah and Isabella; other relatives and friends.
