Robert "Bob" H. Meyer

Robert Henry Meyer was born on August 22, 1925, to Walter H. and Hertha M. (Mundt) Meyer in rural Crawford County, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa. He graduated from Denison High School with the class of 1943. Bob farmed with his father until January of 1952, when he was drafted into the United States Army and served two years in Korea; where he learned an excellent set of mechanical skills that he used throughout his lifetime and passed onto his family. After his honorable discharge in December of 1953, he came back home to farm with his father. Bob married Delores Jepsen on September 9, 1962, at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. The couple made their home on the family farm and two children were born to this union, Scott and Lisa. Bob was awarded as the Honorary Chapter Farmer from the Denison FFA in 1983.

Bob was a lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. He was an usher and a dedicated member of the fellowship club. He was also a member of the circle and swing square dance club. He also enjoyed polka and ballroom dancing. Bob and Delores took many trips together and he enjoyed reminiscing about them. He cherished getting together with friends to play Euchre. He enjoyed woodworking and making gifts for his family and friends; which he did until the very end of his life.

Bob died at his home on April 21, 2021, at the age of 95 years, seven months and 30 days.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Delores Meyer of Denison; son, Scott Meyer of Denison; daughter, Lisa Meyer of Denison; three grandchildren; sisters, Shirley (Leonard) Ahrenholtz of Denison and Gladys (Fred) Hulsebus of Fort Collins, Colorado; cousins; nieces and nephews; and friends.
