Robert J. Block

Robert (Bobby Joe) Joseph Block was born March 2, 1949 in Dunlap, Iowa, the oldest of 9 children to Francis and Lillian Block. He left us to be with our Lord on Sunday, August 10, 2014, at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa, at the age of sixty-five.
Bob graduated in 1967 from the Dow City High School and enlisted in the United States Navy. He did his training in San Diego, California and was assigned to the Seabees (A Navy construction battalion) where he became the best truck driver and heavy equipment operator. He was in Vietnam 2 times and was discharged with honors in 69-70. He remained in Fresno, California and worked as a truck driver. He was united in marriage to Linda Harbin and they were blessed with 2 daughters, Tonya and Dawn. After Linda’s death, Bob married Serilda Ball in 1994, in Fresno, California. In 1998 they moved from California to Dow City, Iowa and Bob went to work for Panama Transfer until he retired.
Bob loved John Deere Tractors and had a very large collection of old ones and other old toys. Together with Serilda, Bob enjoyed providing hay rides for parades, weddings, churches, birthdays and any chance they got.
Bob leaves his wife, Serilda; his mother, Lillian; his sisters, Karen; Debra; Susan; Connie; Nancy; two brothers, Randy and Francis; He also leaves his daughters, Tonya; and Dawn; step-daughter, Shelly; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Francis; one brother, Russell and grandson, Jonas.
