Robert John Jacoby was born March 17, 1946, the son of John and Elenora Jacoby. He passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2014, in Denison, Iowa, at the age of sixty-seven.
Bob was born on a farm near Harlan, Iowa. He received his early education in Constence, Nebraska, before moving to Iowa, where he continued his education in the Denison Community Schools. After completing his education, he worked at the Siouxland Scales in Sioux City and for area farmers before returning to work on the farm with his father. He worked in the trucking industry and drove for Malone Trucking, Farmland Foods and Les Brown Trucking before he bought his own truck and leased to Rex and Don, Inc.
On July 30, 1984, Bob was united in marriage to Betty Jo Friedrichsen. The couple made their home in Vail, Iowa.
In his leisure time, the hobbies he enjoyed included woodworking, tractors and motorcycles. From 1965 to 2012, Bob enjoyed going to Sturgis, South Dakota for the motorcycle rally. His last trip was to Florida to attend his daughter, Carla’s wedding. He enjoyed family, friends and having coffee and visiting with people.
Bob was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, and his sister, Mary Schwartz. He is survived by his wife, Betty Jo of Vail; three sons, Jeffrey John and his wife, Kala; Paul James and his wife, Jamie; William; four daughters, Darcy and her husband, Doug; Carla and her husband, Shad; Katrina and special friend Roxy; Angela and her husband, Jose; twelve grandchildren, Layton, Elena, Bradyn, Hunter, Kara, Amanda, Austin, Brandon, Dustin, Daniel, David and Adriana; and three great-grandchildren Calvin, Jason and Averie; one brother, James and his wife, Connie, two sisters, Eloise and her husband, John; Karen and her husband, Ron; and one brother-in-law, Curtis; nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.
