Robert Meehan

August 29, 1946 — March 13, 2015

Robert James Meehan was born August 29, 1946, the son of Joseph and Velma Meehan. He died Friday, March 13, 2015, at his home in Westside, Iowa, at the age of sixty-eight.
Robert “Doc” was born in Carroll, Iowa, and received his education in the Westside Community Schools, graduating in 1964. On January 26, 1968, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he attained the rank of Sergeant. He served his country until August 1971, when he was honorably discharged. On October 23, 1989, he was united in marriage to Lois Grundmeier Graham in Kimberling, Missouri. Doc worked several years for Farmland Foods before becoming an entrepreneur and forming his own trucking company, R&L Trucking. After a long days work, he enjoyed sitting on his veranda with a Grenadier Cigar and a properly chilled beverage.
Doc enjoyed the outdoors. In his leisure time he could be found working on one of his collector tractors, joining the “lads” for a tractor ride, or taking his “motorsnicle” on a Sunday cruise. Every year, there were three things that he would look forward to: the King shoot at the Five Mile House, the Spencer Fair, with all the stops on the way home, and the local Mountain Oyster Fry. Doc was a kind and considerate man, always thinking of others, offering assistance to anyone that needed it. Last but not least, we all must remember Doc for his well known sayings that were truly well versed. Toodaloo!!!
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Lois in 2000. He is survived by: one sister, Regina and her husband, John; one brother, Roger and his wife, Kathryn; four nieces: Anne; Jennifer and her husband, Bob; Jane and her husband, Scott; Sara; five nephews: David and his wife, Mary; Paul; Mark; Brian; Stephen; one step-son, Ed; many other relatives and friends.
