Roger "Whirly" Allen Werneburg Sr. was born April 22, 1945 in Schleswig, the son of Christopf and Anita (Hinricksen) Werneburg. He graduated from Denison High School.
On April 12, 1986, Roger was united in marriage with Nancy Puck in Carroll. Roger was an electrician and then he worked for Gomaco in Ida Grove as a welder for many years until his retirement. Following retirement, he spent most of his time traveling and working on lawn mowers.
Roger passed away on Monday, August 1, 2022 at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove, attaining the age of seventy-seven years, three months, and ten days. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Nancy Werneburg; 3 grandchildren: Tad Werneburg Jr., Ciara Werneburg and Nick Stone; sister Judy Malone; and brother Richard Werneburg.
He is survived by his children: Sheila Clark of North Carolina; Tad Werneburg and wife Teresa of Creston; Roger Werneburg Jr. of Creston; Jamie Werneburg and wife Amanda of Osceola; Jeremy Werneburg of Carroll; and Nathan Werneburg of Ida Grove; 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; mother-in-law Shirley Puck of Denison; step-daughter Deborah Puck and friend Travis Daniels of Carroll; 3 step-grandchildren; brother Gene Werneburg of Schaller; sisters: Donna Reynolds of Texas and Jan Bierstedt of Lake View; other relatives and friends.
Graveside Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 4, 2022 in Crawford Heights Memory Gardens. Memorials may be directed to the family.
