Roger Collins

July 27, 1940 — February 18, 2015

Roger Patrick Collins was born on a farm near Buck Grove, Iowa, on July 27, 1940, the son of James and Hilda Mattson Collins. He passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2015, at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of seventy-four.
Roger received his education in country school through the 8th grade. On January 10, 1961, he was united in marriage to Mary Ann Rosch. The couple was blessed with the birth of three children.
Roger was a farmer through and through who loved the land and all aspects of farm life. From farm auctions in Denison and Dunlap to tractor pulls, Roger wanted his family to share in his love for farming. He, most importantly, was a kind and caring husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who enjoyed sharing stories with his family and playing and winning card games.
Roger instilled in his family his faith in his Lord and Savior and showed his dedication by being an active member at St. Rose. He loved hosting the children’s first grade trip to tour his dairy farm and he was an active participant in the Arion Boosters and Buffalo Days. Lots of laughs and good conversation were held at the shop in Arion with all of his many friends. In his free time, Roger enjoyed playing cards with the guys in Dow City and counted them among his best friends.
