Roger J. Meehan

Roger Joseph Meehan was born December 24, 1941, the son of Joseph and Velma Meehan. He passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at St. Anthony’s Regional Hospital in Carroll, at the age of seventy-five after a two-year battle with cancer.
Roger was born in Carroll and grew up on the family farm. He received his education from Ar-We-Va Community Schools and graduated with the class of 1960. He served with the National Guard for six years. On February 4, 1967, Roger was united in marriage with Kathryn Lahr at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manilla. The couple made their home on a farm near Westside and were blessed with five children.
Family and farming were a very big part of Roger’s life. He loved family gatherings and attending his grandchildren's events and activities. Roger also enjoyed going to the Bohemian Cafe in Omaha and getting ice cream at Dairy Queen. He was a fan of the Chicago Cubs and enjoyed woodworking. His character is well-defined as a very kind, gentle and thoughtful gentleman with a great sense of humor who was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Roger is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert and his wife, Lois. Survivors include his wife, Kathryn; two sons, Mark and his girlfriend, Stacy; Brian and his wife, Christine; three daughters, Jennifer and her husband, Robert; Jane and her husband, Scott; and Sarah and her husband, Di; ten grandchildren; one sister, Regina and her husband, John; many other relatives and friends.
