Ronald G Henningsen

Ronald Gene Henningsen was born October 10, 1947, the son of Walter and Clara Henningsen. He died Wednesday, December 2, 2015, at the age of sixty-eight.
Ron was born in Denison, Iowa. He was baptized into faith on September 3, 1948 and later confirmed on April 7, 1963 at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. Ron received his K - 2nd grade education at a rural school near Kiron, 2 - 8th grade at the Kiron Community School and graduated from the Denison High School with the class of 1966.
On September 16, 1967, Ron was united in marriage to Lana Bielfeldt, the couple was blessed with the birth of three children. Ron was employed at First National Bank in Sioux City before returning to Denison where he worked at Montgomery Ward Appliance. Later he worked at Hallett’s Bootery in uptown Denison. In 1970, he partnered with Butch Munson having purchased Mark Christiansen’s interest in Hallett’s Bootery. In 1990, Ron purchased the remaining interest in Hallett’s Bootery from Butch Munson. The business continued until 2009 when Ron retired.
As a child Ron was diagnosed with Perthey’s Disease, which left him with a limp. Despite the limp, Ron was an avid outdoors man who went on many fishing, hunting and camping trips. These trips took him all over the country side, including Alaska several times, but his favorite fishing spots were the Meeves farm and Canada. Ron and Lana loved traveling to many parts of the United States and international countries, especially New Zealand. Ron also enjoyed golfing, especially the Brannon Tournament, and was a die-hard Chicago Bears fan. He was a member of Jaycees and the Denison Volunteer Fire Department.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Brandi; one brother, Darrell; one nephew, Jason; and one brother-in-law, Robert. Survivors include: his wife, Lana; one son, Clayton and his wife, Jamie and one daughter, Amber and her husband, Nathan; nine grandchildren: Whitley and her fianc, Michael, Gabriel, Alexander, Greyson, Wrenna, Sophie, John Quincy, and Stella; five brothers: Marlo and his wife, Norma; Kermit and his wife, Darlene; Wesley and his wife, Mary; Verdell and special friend, Frances; Dale and his wife, Nadine; two sisters-in-law, Jan; and Jeanine and her husband, Tom; many other relatives and friends.
