Ronald Krapfl

December 15, 1949 — January 5, 2025

Ronald Wayne Krapfl was born on December 15, 1949, the son of Karl James and Alice Mae (Oertel) Krapfl in Dubuque, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed his faith at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Greeley. Ronald received his education from West Delaware Community Schools and graduated with the class of 1968. He continued his studies at Waldorf College in Forest City, earning his associate’s degree.

Ronald dedicated his career to the agricultural industry, where he worked as a seed salesman. His dedication and skill earned him numerous sales awards during his time with Peterson Seed Company, Agri Gene Seed, Crows Hybrid, Ottilie Seeds, Pfister Seed distributorship, and Rolling Meadows Seed.

Ronald was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Danbury. He found joy in the outdoors and farming, a passion cultivated on the family farm, where he helped his father raise and milk registered Jersey cattle. In his youth, Ronald was active in 4-H, proudly showing cattle at county and state fairs. His love for the land extended to his garden where he nurtured life with care. He enjoyed playing cards and cherished time spent with family and friends. Ronald also enjoyed fishing, finding peace and connection with nature in the quiet moments by the water.

Ronald had a profound love for animals, who brought him comfort and companionship throughout his life. Among those who held a special place in his heart were his loyal dog, Lady, and his cherished cats: Pip Squeak, Egypt, and Tyrant.

Ronald passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at Willow Dale Wellness Village in Battle Creek, Iowa at the age of 75 years and 21 days. He was preceded in death by his father, Karl Krapfl; sister, Lynn Blunk; and brother-in-law, Robert Robinson.

Ronald is survived by his mother, Alice Krapfl of Denison; siblings: Deborah Robinson of Converse, Texas, Julie (Nile) Funk of Waverly, Larry (Tracie) Krapfl of Anthon and Kathy (Ross) Thul of Denison; brother-in-law, Bruce Blunk of Vail; many nieces and nephews; and other family members and friends.
