Ronald Francis Quandt was born on April 7, 1947, the son of Francis and LaRue (Keller) Quandt in Denison, Iowa. He was baptized and later confirmed his faith at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison. Ronald received his education from Schleswig High School, graduating with the class of 1965. Following his education, he proudly enlisted in the United States Army, where he served his country with dedication until his honorable discharge.
On December 3, 1977, Ron married the love of his life, Eileen Hanlin. Together, they built a home south of Kiron, where they were blessed with three children. Ron devoted 36 years of hard work to Farmland Foods in Denison, where his dedication and cheerful whistling left a lasting impression.
Ron was an active member of Isaac Walton, and an avid golfer at the Schleswig Golf Course, where he achieved the rare and proud accomplishment of a hole-in-one on hole 5. He was also a proud member of the Schleswig VFW. Above all, Ron's greatest joy was his family. His loved ones will forever cherish his warmth, humor, and unwavering devotion. He had a way of making every gathering special, always concluding his pre-meal prayers with his signature phrase, "chow down." He especially loved fishing with his grandchildren, sharing not only his passion for the sport but also the invaluable lesson of cherishing family. Ron was ornery with an infectious smile and never met a stranger. With his natural gift for conversation, he could spark a friendly chat with anyone, no matter where life took him.
Ron passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at his home near Kiron at the age of 77 years, ten months and eight days. He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, William and Kate Hanlin; brother-in-law, Tom Murphy; nephews: Jim Murphy and Jeff Montgomery.
