Ronald Thornhill

Ronald Ivan Thornhill was born May 13, 1947, in Ida Grove, Iowa, the son of Ivan and Irene Bubke Thornhill. He passed away at his home in Denison, Iowa, on July 26, 2011, at the age of sixty-four.
Ron was born with Cerebral Palsy that affected his legs, but that never stopped him. He was incredibly active as a boy, taking great interest in 4-H clubs, hunting, and fishing. After graduating from Ida Grove High School with the class of 1965, Ron experimented with Business School in Sioux City where he met his best friend and confidante, Linda Potts. Ron and Linda were united in marriage on August 9, 1969, and to this union were born two children, Amy and Jason.
Ron and Linda lived and worked in Denison, and they spent most of their free time with friends and family. Playing cards well into the early morning hours was not uncommon on the weekends. Ron loved to travel to Montana and Wyoming to hunt elk, and he made those excursions fairly regularly. Fishing out at local farm ponds with his children was something he took great pleasure in.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his daughter, Amy and her husband, E.M.; his son, Jason and his wife, Jenny; five grandchildren: Alana Joy, Edward McSherry IV, Jordan Michael, Gavin Edward, and Wiatt Lindan; his sister, Janet and her husband, Dan; his brother, Rick and his wife, Eleanor; multiple nephews andnieces; other relatives and friends.
