Roseann H. Gehlsen

Roseann Hulda Gehlsen was born October 2, 1937, in Ida Grove, Iowa, the daughter of Ferdinand and Vernetta Paulsen. She passed away Friday, November 24, 2017, at Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, Iowa, at the age of eighty.
Roseann was baptized in Christ at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa, October 31, 1937, and was confirmed March 29, 1953, at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. She received her education in the schools near her home and graduated from Denison High School with the Class of 1956.
Following graduation, she served her country as a flight attendant in the United States Air Force from September 19, 1956, to June 26, 1959. Upon completing her military service, she returned to Denison where she began her employment as a bookkeeper with Curtis and Wheeler, CPA’s which later became Virgil W. Johnson, CPA, PC. Roseann was united in marriage to Reynold Gehlsen November 4, 1965, at the Zion Lutheran Church Chapel in Denison, Iowa. On November 4, 2005, Roseann and Reynold celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary with a dance and open house at the Five Mile House, south of Westside. In 1970, Roseann and Reynold became charter members of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa.
Roseann was a woman of deep faith. She was treasurer for the Sunday School and a member of the adult fellowship at Our Savior. Her family was very important to her – she loved family gatherings, attending the children and grandchildren’s events and going shopping for the grandchildren with Lois Blair. In her leisure time, she enjoyed flower gardening, cooking, fishing and ballroom dancing. She also enjoyed watching television in the evenings especially dramas, Carol Burnett and other comedies. Traveling to Branson and Okoboji and taking bus trips to Alaska and Canada also brought her much pleasure.
Roseann was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include: her husband, Reynold; three sons; Brett and his wife, Katie and Troy and his wife, Deb; and Shawn; six grandchildren; one brother, Ron and his wife, Faylene; other relatives and friends.
