Ross Carstens

Ross Alfred Carstens was born October 25, 1956, the son of Lloyd and Vera Frey Carstens. He passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 55.
Ross was born in Denison, Iowa. He received his education in the Denison Community Schools graduating with the class of 1975. Ross graduated from Northwest Missouri State in Maryville, Missouri in 1979. He began working for Farmers Grain and Livestock in West Des Moines, Iowa, as a Commodity Broker and then joined a group of investors to form Commodity Services, Inc. in Des Moines, Iowa. In 2009 he purchased and became sole proprietor of Commodity Services, Inc. Ross was united in marriage to Kitty Kregness at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison on August 25, 1979, by Fr. Lloyd White. The couple was blessed with the birth of one daughter.
Ross enjoyed outdoor activities such as deer hunting, boating, and fishing on his farm as well as all around the country and Canada. He was also handy in the kitchen preparing the game he hunted, earning a blue ribbon at the Iowa State Fair in wild game cooking. Ross loved riding his Harley and Honda motorcycles cross country and looked forward to the many trips to Sturgis, South Dakota. Ross was always busy doing something as he didnt like to sit still and he liked to modify and rig equipment in order to make jobs easier. He was a social guy and enjoyed being with his family and friends.
Ross was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Gary. He is survived by one daughter, Callie and her mother, Kitty; and one brother, Dale and his wife, Kim; other relatives and friends.
