Ruby D. Keiner

December 15, 1947 — April 2, 2019

Ruby Dorothy Keiner was born on December 15, 1947, to Fred and Hertha (Blume) Miller in Denison, Iowa. Following an unexpected illness, Ruby entered Heaven on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, having attained the age of 71 years, 3 months, and 18 days.
She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith on December 7, 1966, at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. She attended Denison schools graduating with the class of 1966. In 1973, Ruby was united in marriage to Dennis Keiner. Though their relationship ended in divorce, two children blessed their union.
From her younger years, Ruby recalled fond memories from her jobs at Olson’s Bakery, Crawford County Trust & Savings Bank, and selling Avon products. She was probably most noted for her decades of managing the Holiday Station Store. In her spare time, Ruby enjoyed bowling at Lucky Lanes in Denison until her knee objected. Ruby then began playing bingo. She became a regular on the Denison area bingo circuit and served as a bingo caller in Deloit.
After retirement, Ruby sold her home in Denison and moved to Tyndall, South Dakota, to be near her daughter and her family. She enjoyed weekly card games at the center and spoiling her pet cat, Bamboo. She became a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Tyndall and made several friends in the area. As her mobility decreased, Ruby grew homesick and in 2017, returned to Denison to live at the Eventide Assisted Living Apartments. She enjoyed the last few years in leisure and spending time with friends and family.
She is survived by her daughter, Tena (Rev. Dean) Schroeder of Tyndall, South Dakota; son, Kai (Sheena Mercural) Keiner of Charter Oak, Iowa; grandchildren: Cheyenne (Mike) Schenkel of Avon, South Dakota, Adayla (Andrew) Starzl of Yankton, South Dakota, Sean Keiner of Sioux City, Iowa, Evan Schroeder and Ethan Schroeder both of Tyndall, South Dakota; great-grandchildren: Emma, Nolan, Miles, Oliver, Benjamin, Elsie, and two on the way; siblings: Freddie Miller of Independence, Iowa, Doris Weber of Des Moines, Iowa, David (Sandy) Miller of Buck Grove, Iowa, Joe (Bev) Miller of Dow City, Iowa, and Tommy Miller of Denison, Iowa; and sisters-in-law, LaJune Miller of Buck Grove, Iowa and Marlyn Wiedmann of Denison, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Teddy and John Miller; brother-in-law, John Weber; and sister-in-law, Pat Miller.
We look forward to seeing her again, free of troubles and pain, when the Lord gathers us with her to our eternal home in heaven
