Russell Charles Quandt was born on September 17, 1958, the son of Francis and LaRue Ella (Keller) Quandt in Denison. He was baptized and later confirmed into the Catholic faith. Russ received his education from Schleswig High School and graduated with the class of 1977.
Russ dedicated many years of hard work and commitment to his career at Farmland Foods in Denison. As a young father, he led by example, instilling strong values in his children through his support, guidance, and acceptance. His work ethic and devotion to his family made him a role model to all who knew him.
Russ was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison. He was deeply involved in his community, particularly with the Charter Oak Fire Department, where he served as chief. He found joy in the outdoors, spending time hunting, fishing, and hitting the golf course. Above all, he cherished his role as a devoted dad and grandpa, never missing a chance to cheer on his children and grandchildren in their various activities. In his later years, he found companionship with his beloved dog, Tiny, and enjoyed sharing a cold Old Milwaukee or Busch Light with friends while passionately supporting the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Russ passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Good Samaritan Society in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 66 years, six months and three days. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ronald Quandt; brother-in-law, Tom Murphy; nephews: Jim Murphy.
