Russell Louis Hast was born April 5, 1945, the son of Albert and Dorothy Nance Hast. He passed away Sunday, July 17, 2011, at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 66. Russell was born in Denison, Iowa. He grew up in the Buck Grove area, attending country school. He attended Denison High School in Denison, Iowa, graduating with the class of 1963. He joined the National Guard, serving from 1963 to 1967. He was united in marriage to Teri Lyman and to this union four sons were born.
He worked construction most of his life as a mason. He was a hard-working, honest man, always putting in a good days work. He had a good sense of humor and remained strong for his family. He enjoyed fishing and hunting trips in the western Iowa region. Car shows were a favorite pastime of his as well as driving his Porsche. He loved spending time with his family and friends and attending his grandchildrens sporting events.
Russell was preceded in death by his parents; one nephew, Rick; one brother-in-law, Daryl; and one cousin, Delbert. Survivors include four sons: Michael and his special friend, Bud; Jim and his wife, Lori; Thomas and his wife, Tammy; and Troy and his wife, Melissa; three brothers: Harold "Dean" Hast and his wife, Maxine; Philip and his wife, Mavis; and John and his wife, Karol; one sister, Vernetta Clingenpeel; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild; other relatives and friends.
