Ruth I Thompson

Ruth Inez Irene (Schramm) Thompson was born March 19, 1923 to Rudolph and Emma Schramm in rural Crawford County. Following her graduation from Denison High School in 1941 she attended Buena Vista College and then taught in one room county school. She was united in marriage to Willard C. Thompson on September 22, 1944. To this union two daughters were born; Judy and Kathy. Ruth worked for over 25 years for Dr. Paul Baker, Optometrist. After retirement she and her husband worked a number of years at Sunrise Campground in Storm Lake. They enjoyed camping, fishing and playing cards with friends and relatives. They spent a number of winters in Winter Haven, Florida. Ruth’s hobbies included painting, drawing and various crafts, especially for great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Willard in 1993, her parents, two brothers Walter and Wilbert and one sister Elizabeth .Ruth passed away at Crawford County Memorial Hospital on January 10, 2016. Survivors include two daughters; Judy and her husband Bill; and Kathy; four grandchildren: Jennifer(Bob); Thomas (Seanna); Kelly; and J.B. (Meggan); seven precious great granddaughters: McKenna, Bailey, Ally, Audrey, Maci. Lauren and Zoe; one sister Sandra (Curtis); and special neighbors, Kevin and Anita.
