Ruth M Hoffmeier

Ruth Marie Hoffmeier was born January 9, 1925, the daughter of Herman and Marie Weigard Weber. She died Monday, November 9, 2015, at the Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, Iowa, at the age of ninety.
Ruth grew up on the family farm near Dunlap, Iowa. She was baptized August 27, 1925, and confirmed in the Lutheran faith April 25, 1943. She received her education in a rural school near her home. As a young girl, she helped her family on the farm. December 16, 1945, Ruth was united in marriage to Melvin Hoffmeier at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison by the Rev. C.W. Schmidt. The couple settled on a farm near his birth place and Ruth was highly involved in the farming activities with her husband. The couple was blessed with the birth of two children.
After Melvin retired, the couple remained on the farm. Melvin died in January of 1992,. In her leisure time, Ruth enjoyed socializing with her friends at church and the senior center playing cards and visiting. She enjoyed crocheting and listening to the Lawrence Welk show on TV and watching the classic westerns. Also, after moving to Denison, she enjoyed her life with several bank trips around the country and cruises and got her exercise by going on walking events around town.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Melvin; three brother, Gerald, John and one in infancy; two sisters, Helen and Della. Survivors include one daughter, Betty and her husband, James; one son, Roger and his wife, Barb; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Dick and his wife, Stella; four sisters-in-law, Wanda; Loretta; Doris and Clara; many other relatives and friends.
