Sally Ann Carstens

Sally Ann Carstens was born on July 30, 1940, the daughter of Edwin and Selma (Rusch) Rosburg in Charter Oak, Iowa. She received her education at St. John’s Lutheran School and Charter Oak High School.

In June of 1958, Sally was united in marriage to Gale Carstens and the couple was blessed with four children: Teri, Dean, Kevin and Curt. Sally worked as a teacher’s aide at Charter Oak Schools, as well as a variety of other jobs within the community.

Sally was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed gardening and camping. Hanging out with her friends and playing Scrabble and card games were some of her favorite pastimes.

Following a progressive battle with Alzheimer’s, Sally passed away peacefully with family on Sunday, August 27, 2023, at the St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll, Iowa at the age of 83 years and 28 days.

Sally was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Vernie Rosburg and Duke Rosburg; Gale Carstens; special friend, Robert Heckmann; and daughter-in-law, Lynn Carstens.

She is survived by her four children: Teri Carstens of Atlanta, Georgia, Dean (Rhonda) Carstens of Carroll, Kevin (Colleen) Carstens of Nashville, Tennessee and Curt (Dawnie) Carstens of Carroll; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Edward (Dorothy) Rosburg of Englewood, Colorado; and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation with the family greeting friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at the Huebner Funeral Home in Charter Oak. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at Crawford Heights Memory Gardens in Denison. Memorials may be directed to the family.
