Sarah Joy Wegner

Sarah Joy Wegner was born August 23, 1963, the daughter of Alfred and Sally Barrier Dirks. She passed away Saturday, March 1, 2014, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa, at the age of fifty.
She received her education in the Woodbine Community Schools, graduating with the class of 1983. While in high school she was on the Drill Team and was the wrestling team manger. After completing her education she was employed at Mutual of Omaha. In May of 1985, she was united in marriage to Joe Wegner . The couple made their home in rural Schleswig and was blessed with the birth of two children. She later moved to Arcadia and was engaged to be married to Steve Reetz.
She was a loving and caring person who loved holidays, especially Christmas. She was a fan of the Minnesota Vikings. She enjoyed stock car racing and watching Steve stockcar race and keeping him in line. She loved her cats, grilling, and talking to friends on the phone and socializing with family and friends. Sarah was very forthright and had an infectious laugh. She just became a grandmother and was very proud of her family and being a grandmother.
Sarah was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include: her fianc, Steve Reetz; one son: Benjamin Wegner and his special friend, Megan of Carroll, Iowa; one daughter: Kelsey Logan and her husband, Jason of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; two step-children: Joshua Reetz of Carroll; Brandi Reetz and her special friend, Brice Shrimpton of Carroll; three grandchildren; two brothers: Mark Dirks of Vail, Iowa; and Joel Dirks and his wife, Kathy of Harlan; many other relatives and friends.
