Scott Smallwood, known to his family as “Cody”, was born on November 20, 1960. He passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at his home in Schleswig, Iowa at the age of fifty-four.
Scott grew up on farms in and around Storm Lake. He received his education in Alta and Storm Lake, and completed his college degrees at the University of Nevada in Reno. He held a B.A. in Dead Languages, specializing in Sanskrit and the Dead Sea Scrolls, a B.S. in Criminal Science, and an M.A. in Journalism. Scott was a writer of short stories, a published poet, and was working on a novel. Throughout his life, he worked as a farmer, and was a truck driver for the Schmadeke Family and Jacobson Transportation. Scott also worked for National Carriers where he and Virginia owned their own semi-trailer. He also worked for the Reno Gazette. Scott was a lover of music, and he provided transportation for the band KISS. Scott met his wife Virginia Smallwood in 1995, and the two welcomed twin girls, Adrei Lei and Jenna Kae on August 3, 2004. From the age of nine months, the girls joined their parents legally when they trucked. Scott and Virginia celebrated 20 happy years of marriage this May.
Scott is preceded in death by his mother-in-law Imogene Wheetley. Survivors include his wife Virginia and twin daughters Adrei Lei and Jenna Kae; father-in-law Gerald and companion / care giver, Francis “Nana”; sister-in-law Vivian and her husband, Curt; and many other friends.
