Sherryl Louise Ellis was born June 3, 1948, the daughter of Lester and Lorraine Longwell Anderson. She passed away Friday, July 27, 2012, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 64.
Sherryl was born in Emerson, Nebraska. She attended Emerson Community Schools, graduating with the class of 1966. Sherryl was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran in Emerson, Nebraska, and on April 7, 1967, she was united in marriage to William Ellis at St. Paul Lutheran Church. They were blessed with five children. They moved to Denison in 1974. Sherryl was a stay at home mother, raising her family and caring for foster children from 1972-1988. She worked at Eventide, Denison Care Center and then Wescos Camelot home for 17 years.
Sherryl enjoyed entertaining family playing cards, board games and cooking for them with her specialty dishes being goulash and potato salad. Sherryl loved to socialize with friends in her water aerobics classes or over a cup of coffee. She was a member of TOPS Club, even reaching her KOPS status. Sherryl was very involved in Girl Scouts serving as a troop leader. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and Denison Christian Womens Club. She was a great fan of Dr. Phil and Anderson Cooper, and enjoyed listening to the music of Loretta Lynn and other country artists. She recently joined Our Savior Lutheran Church in Denison.
Sherryl was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Marsha in infancy; and one brother Randy. She is survived by her husband, Bill; one son, Rick and his wife, Theresa; four daughters: Monica and her husband, Don; Sheri and Jim; Cindy and her husband, Gregg; and Angie; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; four sisters: Peggy and her husband, Bob; Carol and her husband, Danny; Joey and her husband, Doug; and Gina; two brothers: David and his wife, Jan; and Terry; other relatives and friends.
