Shirley A. Jensen

Shirley Ann Jensen was born August 26, 1929, the daughter of Fred and Anna Pokorny. She died Monday, June 8, 2015 at the Creighton Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of eighty-five.
Shirley was born in Meadville, Nebraska, and received her education in Ainsworth, Nebraska, graduating in 1948. On July 2, 1950, Shirley was united in marriage to Marvin Jensen in Ainsworth, Nebraska. The couple made their home on a farm near Denison and were blessed with the birth of two children. Shirley had the privilege of being home with her children during their growing up years, but spent her later years working at Lee’s Dime Store, being a volunteer at the Crawford County Hospital Auxiliary, and working in the dietary department at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital until retiring. Shirley was a very devoted member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid and Evening Guild.
Shirley was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. In her spare time she enjoyed word search puzzles and socializing with her friends and coffee club gals. Shirley enjoyed canning peaches, vegetables, and making chicken noodle soup. Shirley also loved embroidering and took great pride in making blankets for her grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin in 2003; her son, Dennis in 1969. Survivors include one daughter, Glenda and her husband, Jack; 2 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; many other relatives and friends.
