Shirley Ann Kastner

Shirley Ann Kastner was born on July 9, 1940, the daughter of Edlef and Maxine Jurgensen. She died Friday, January 21, 2022, at Denison Care Center in Denison, Iowa the age of eighty-one.

Shirley went to school in Kiron until the 11th grade when the Kiron school closed. She spent her last two years of school in Denison where she graduated.

Shirley met Loren Kastner at a polka dance and on November 2, 1959, the couple united in marriage. They were blessed with the birth of four children. Shirley was busy raising her children, attending sporting events and working part time at Don's Market, CB Electronics and Teut's before her retirement.

Shirley enjoyed polka dancing, playing cards with friends and watching sports of any kind. She loved her family very much and enjoyed spending time with them and attending as many of their sporting events as possible. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Schleswig, Iowa.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Loren in 2014; one son Craig in 1967. Survivors include two sons, Corey Kastner and his wife Deanna of Sibley, Iowa; Cal Kastner of Schleswig, Iowa, one daughter, Trudi Andernacht and her husband Craig of Basehor, Kansas; four grandchildren, Courtney Plotz and her husband Tyler of Sibley, Iowa; Calvin Kastner and his wife Samantha of Parker, South Dakota; Cara Kastner and her fiancé Parker Preul of Denison, Iowa; Cierra Kastner of Schleswig, Iowa; four great-grandchildren, Tavian and Jayla Plotz of Sibley, Iowa; Izabella and Addison Kastner of Parker, South Dakota; many relatives and friends.

Visitation is 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 24, 2022 at the Huebner Funeral Home in Schleswig. Funeral Service is 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at the United Church of Christ is Schleswig. Interment is in Morgan Cemetery is Schleswig.
