Norman Virgil Pullen was born April 5, 1954, the son of Virgil and Carol Hollander Pullen. He died at his home in Ames, Iowa, at the age of fifty-six.
Norman was born in Perry, Iowa. He received his education in Keithsburg, Illinois. On August 17, 1974, he was united in marriage to Jodi Akers at the Arlo Schoenfeld house in Charter Oak, Iowa. The couple was blessed with the birth of four children. In 1959 they moved from Keithsburg to Iowa and then to Denison in 1966.
He worked a variety of jobs and was self-employed from time to time throughout his life. His work included roofing for Tom Ransom, cutting down trees, several years at Worldwide Meats, DCS Sanitation Company and IBP. In the early 1990s they moved to Storm Lake where he worked at Sarah Lee Foods. They moved to Ames in 2005 where he worked at Burke Foods in Nevada for three years.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, He loved outdoor activities including hunting and fishing. He went deer hunting, but preferred duck hunting. He enjoyed fishing tournaments and went to Spirit Lake and Lake of the Woods in Canada. He liked watching NASCAR, his favorite driver being Jeff Gordon. He enjoyed listening to country music and was a big Iowa Hawkeye fan. He liked working on cars and going to the casino.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Jody; four sons: Chris and friend, Jennifer; Jarad and his wife, Jill; Cody; and Jesse and his wife, Melanie; two brothers: David and his wife, Linda; Terry and his wife, Lynette; one sister, Sherry and her husband, Dave; three grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
