Steve A. Lahr

Steve Allen Lahr was born June 13, 1956, at Manilla, Iowa, the son of Jerome and Mary Ellen Lahr. He passed away Friday, March 1, 2019, at Bergan Mercy Hospital CHI Health in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of sixty-two.
Steve grew up in Manilla and later moved to Denison. He was employed at Iowa Beef Processors for a few years before receiving an eye injury which forced him to discontinue working. He had numerous eye surgeries through the years and various health issues in the past few years. Because of his failing health, he moved to Manilla Manor in 2017 and the residents and staff became his family.
Always a happy person and smiling, Steve enjoyed doing the handyman things, while he was able, such as cutting wood, working on small engines and lawn mowers. His favorite leisure-time activities included listening to country and western music and watching television and movies. He had quite an assortment of music CD’s and movies which he enjoyed even while at the Manor. Steve was kind and eager to visit with his friends. His eye injury never discouraged his happiness and willingness to be active.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include: his brother, Dennis; one niece, Marian; one nephew, Mason; cousins; other relatives and friends.
