Steven Michael Fineran

Steven Michael Fineran was born on August 20, 1958, the son of John Charles and Lorraine Emma (Schneller) Fineran in Denison, Iowa. He was baptized later that year on Christmas day at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison and later confirmed at the Faith Lutheran Church in Deloit. In 1963, his parents purchased a farm south of Deloit, and he loved growing up as a farm kid. His father passed away in 1970, and he and his siblings had to step up to keep the farm thriving. Steve received his education from Denison High School and graduated with the class of 1976. He then enlisted into the United States Marine Corps and honorably served for four years.

Steve drove semis for various companies all over the United States. This allowed him to widely travel, which he enjoyed. He continued to farm his family’s ground alongside his brother and nephews for the remainder of his life.

Steve had a strong faith and was blessed in many ways. He had a true love for the land and caring for it, gardening, and making memories with friends and family. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and driving his 1979 Chevy love.

Steve passed away on Friday, September 29, 2023, in Perris, California at the age of 65 years, one month and nine days.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Marlin Aschinger; and siblings-in-law, Shirley Fineran and Les Campbell. He is survived by his brother, Dennis Fineran of Denison; sister, Deanna Campbell of Deloit; eight nieces and nephews: Tracie (Karen) Fineran of Denison, Melissa (aka Pete) of Ames, Patrick Fineran of Denison, Heather Curnyn of Denison, Wendie (Nick) Cadwell of Earling, Chris Fineran of Tacoma, Washington, Page Humphrey (Ben) of Des Moines and Connor Fineran of Cedar Falls; 12 great-nieces and great-nephews: Travis (Heather), Michaela, Logan, Mersadees, Samantha, Landen, Elijah, Haiden, Lane, Miles, Elizabeth and Ella; one great-great nephew, Adam; and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, and his funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, all at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison. Interment with military honors will follow in the Deloit Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family.
