Steven Allen Harmon was born November 4, 1977, the son of Boyd (Larry) and Sarah Ballantine Damm. He passed away Thursday, June 6, 2013, in Des Moines, Iowa, at the age of 35.
Steve was born in Merced, California. He moved with his parents from California to Iowa in November 1977 in a cardboard box for a crib. While growing up in Dow City Steve would go fishing with his grandparents and called his catches bish. He was also involved in baseball as a youngster. He then went to work for a hog confinement near Soldier. Steve moved to Des Moines and worked in the construction business and for a car dealership.
Steve was a jeans and t-shirt kind of guy and a gifted mechanic. He loved racing and followed NASCAR, and other racing programs on televison. His favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt, Sr., and then when he passed away, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. became the driver Steve followed. Steve was a funny and kind-hearted guy who would go out of his way and do anything to help when it was needed. One day he drove from Des Moines to Dow City to build a deck on his grandmas front porch. He enjoyed listening to rock and roll heavy metal music, searching the internet, and participating on Facebook.
