Susan Kay Nelson was born May 11, 1944, the daughter of Paul and Eileen Peters. She passed away July 11, 2018, at her home in Denison, Iowa, at the age of seventy-four.
Sue was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. On July 22, 1969, Sue was united in marriage to Larry Nelson at Cheyenne, Wyoming. Larry always kept Sue’s life changing from building, owning and running the Longbranch in Vail, Iowa, to moving back to Denison where she worked in the office at Farmland Foods for several years. In 1994, they bought and moved to a farm south of Denison, where the city girl, Sue, learned all about raising calves and taking care of them. Following Larry’s death in 2003, she moved back to town and retired.
Sue was preceded in death by her grandparents, Edward and Laura and Otto and Lula; parents, Paul and Eileen; husband, Larry; Larry’s parents, Lawrence “Dice” and Jean; and her sister, Paula. Survivors include: two daughters, Kimberly, and Ann and her husband, Shannon; two granddaughters, Morgan and Bailey; two brothers-in-law, Dean, and his children, David, Darin and Kevin; and Danny and his wife, Cindy, and their children, Danielle, Seth and Trent; one sister-in-law, Janean and her husband, Bob, and their children, Nelson, Carter and Wyatt; other relatives and friends.
