Thomas A. Hickey

Thomas Arthur Hickey was born April 12, 1942, at Manilla, Iowa, the son of Arthur and Lenora Hickey. He passed away Thursday, February 16, 2017, at the Manilla Manor in Manilla, Iowa, at the age of seventy-four.
Tom was united in marriage to Joan (Messenbrink) Grimm. Tom adopted her four children, and together they had one daughter, Rae Jean. On December 23, 1988, Tom married Georgia (Lohman) Wiges and they resided in Manilla before building a new home on their farm just north of Manilla and subsequently moving to Vail.
They started T & G Trucking and owned a fleet of tractor/trailers that were seen all around the country. They enjoyed traveling to numerous truck shows and Tom was proud of the fact that he always owned the newest colors and technology on the market. Tom was as passionate about the trucking business as a man could be.
In his free time, he enjoyed countless trips to local casinos and frequent trips to Las Vegas. He also enjoyed reading – from western novels, to trucking magazines, to his daily stack of newspapers.
Tom was a very loving husband, father, stepfather, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a fun man to be around and his company was enjoyed by many.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary; and a daughter, Renee. Survivors include: his wife, Georgia of 28 years; three daughters: Rhonda and husband, Lance, Renita and RaeJean; one son, Rick and wife, Jill; three stepsons: Doug and wife, Diana, David and wife, Carol, and Dennis and wife, Lisa; eighteen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
