Thomas J. Burda

Thomas John Burda was born October 12, 1949, at Cedar Rapids, Nebraska, to Harry and Irene (Teply) Burda. He passed away Friday, November 24, 2017, at the home of his daughter in Schleswig, Iowa, at the age of sixty-eight.
He grew up in Primrose, Nebraska and graduated from Spalding High School. He served in the Army stationed in Germany. Upon returning home from the service, he farmed on the family farm. He was united in marriage with Nancy in 1984. Tom worked at Smithfield Foods in Denison, Iowa, while Nancy taught in area schools.When Tom married Nancy, he received four grown stepchildren and they were the parents of one child together.
Tom was an avid Nebraska Huskers fan, never missing a game if he could help it. Tom was a quiet, loving, kind person, always willing to help somebody. He will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy of 34 years; his mother and father; stepson and grandson; and a sister-in-law. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Dennis; three sons, Brian, Jeff and Chris; brother, Leo; two sisters, Jeanette and Harriette; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
