Toby Allen Mathies was born June 1, 1976, in Denison, Iowa, the son of Steven and Katherine Mathies. He passed away at his home in Chatsworth, California September 4, 2019, at the age of forty-three.
Toby was baptized in Christ and confirmed at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison, Iowa. He received his early education at St. Rose of Lima Parochial School and graduated from Denison Community High School with the class of 1995. After graduating high school, he served his country in the United States Marine Corps as a Sergeant/F-5 as a Motor Transport Operator. He completed his basic training at Camp Pendleton, California and was stationed in Japan, Australia, North Carolina, and Pendleton, California from 1995-1999, when he was honorably discharged. After the Marine Corps, he worked at various dealerships turning wrenches and specializing in Mercedes Benz and Dodge Vipers. He also worked on the cars of the rich and famous including Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O’Neal, and Pamela Anderson. Toby quit working as a mechanic after he was involved in a couple of serious motorcycle accidents. He decided to further his education and went to school at Los Angeles Pierce College and studied to become an auto insurance broker. After completing school, he opened his own business Super Latinos in 2006 which he continued to operate at the time of his death.
Toby was united in marriage to Vicky Villacorta on July 9, 2011 and settled in Palmdale, California. They later bought a beautiful home in Chatsworth, California, a suburb of Los Angles. The couple was blessed with four beautiful children and two older daughters.
Toby treasured every moment he spent with his children, grandson and family. He enjoyed camping, taking many trips to Mexico in their RV, riding 4 wheelers and odysseys. He loved riding motorcycles, gardening, and attending the kids’ school activities. He was a family man and cherished them all. If you had the chance to know him, you definitely could never forget his contagious smile and goofy personality.
Toby is survived by his parents, Steven and Kathy; his wife, Vicky; five daughters: Andrea and fianc Kendall, Kennedy and partner Rigo, Samantha, Katherine, and Deliha; one son, Toby; one grandson, Damion; one sister, Stephanie and husband Bradley; nephews and nieces: Logan and fianc Breanna, Hannah, Bristol, Boston and Shelbi; many aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Jack and Fern and his maternal grandparents Stuart and Joanie.
