Todd L. Garrett

Todd Larry Garrett was born November 26, 1965 in Denison, Iowa, the son of Larry and Carlyn Jean Brown Garrett. He died at his home in Afton, Iowa at the age of 50.
Todd grew up in Dow City. He received his education from the Dow City-Arion School, graduating with the class of 1984. After graduation he received his Associates Degree in Criminal Justice, attended the Police Academy in Des Moines, Iowa and worked as a Deputy in various towns in Iowa. He also worked for AT & T Cable in Denison and Atlantic, Iowa. He also received a CDL license and drove truck for Schneider Trucking. Later on he moved to the Kansas City area and received his Funeral Director and Embalmers license. He worked in that trade in Kansas and Iowa for a few years. He later moved to southern Iowa and worked at the Bunn-o-matic plant in Creston for several years. After that He went back to school in Wisconsin and received his new CDL license and drove truck for Roehl, Menards and Panama Transfer. He moved in with his parents for a year due to personal problems and had only recently moved to the area that he loved around Creston and Afton, Iowa.
In his leisure time Todd liked to fish and drive around the countryside. He also liked to attend an occasional professional ball game with his son, Jacob. Todd was a solitary man who enjoyed the solitude of nature and the environment. He was compassionate and had a great sense of humor, telling the latest jokes.
Todd was preceded in death by his grandparents. Survivors include his parents Larry and Carlyn Garrett of Dow City; one son, Jacob Garrett and his mother Tami Kuehl of Mt. Ayr, Ia; and two brothers;Troy Garrett and his wife, Lisa of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Thad Garrett of Dow City; nephew Nathan Garrett of Vermillion, South Dakota; and niece Jaiden Garrett of Dow City; other friends and relatives.
