Thomas Joseph Rosauer was born March 21, 1924, the son of Frank and Cecilia Fitzpatrick Rosauer. He passed away at Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, Iowa, on Saturday, February 25, 2012, at the age of eighty-seven.
Tom was born in Danbury, Iowa. He moved to Sioux City with his family and graduated from Central High School in Sioux City with the class of 1942. Tom was stationed in the Navy at Schmacher Naval Base near Sacramento, California. It was during this time he met and married Eleanor Martin on March 16, 1946, at the base. The couple made their home in Lodi, California, for a short time and then moved back to Sioux City after Tom was discharged. They were blessed with the birth of five children: Judy, Theresa, Pat, Tom, Jr. and Dan.
While living in Sioux City, Tom worked for Wigman Company. In May 1956 they moved to Denison and he continued working for Wigmans. He managed Lucky Lanes Bowling Alley in Denison from early 1959 until 1963 when he began working at Erichs Motors. Later he worked for Don Reis in sporting goods. Following his passion for fishing, Tom began writing weekly newspaper articles in the Denison Bulletin entitled, "Tips from Tom," which informed people about local fishing areas. He would co-anchor Coachs Corner on the radio with Don Uker, broadcasting from the sporting goods store on Monday mornings. From1975 until his retirement in 1989, he worked for Denison Municipal Utilities as a purchasing agent and enjoyed frying the fish he had caught for their annual fish fry. In his leisure time he enjoyed fishing, golfing, and attending his grandchildrens and great-grandchildrens events.
Tom waspreceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eleanor in 2009; one daughter, Pat in 2011; one grandson, Harry, Jr.in 1989; two sisters, Francis and her husband, Pete; and Lois; one brother, Cecil and his wife, Sandy. Survivors include two daughters, Judy; and Theresa and her husband, Harry; two sons, Tom, Jr., and Dan; four grandchildren, Jenny; Tracy and her husband Jay; Adam and his wife, Amy; and Josh; eight great-grandchildren: Kiley, Luke, Ellie, Jack, Isabella, Lola, Max, and Ella; one brother, Jim and his wife, Alberta; many other relatives and friends.
